THE TEAM
Andrea Haggar
Meet Chef Andrea Haggar (Chef Drea), a dynamic culinary talent with a fresh perspective on food, sustainability, and quality. With over 15 years of culinary expertise, Chef Drea is a seasoned maestro in the world of gastronomy who is always learning and exploring. Known for a passion for locally-sourced ingredients and a commitment to sustainability, Chef Drea is a pioneer in the farm-to-table movement, fusing innovation with tradition to create exceptional and memorable dining experiences.
My culinary journey started in the same place as so many others; in my grandma's kitchen. From her I learned plenty about Mediterranean flavors, and even more about life, family, and love. She was the first person to show me the power of a delicious meal and how it can bring people together and keep them together.
After graduating from culinary school I earned my stripes in the fine dining world working for the Four Seasons Biltmore Luxury Hotel in Santa Barbara. It was here I was able to hone my craft making excellent meals for a discerning clientele. I was commended for my Spanish tapas creations and even made fresh meals for royalty (and their dogs!).
Wanting to branch out on my own, I became the Executive Chef for a new restaurant in Santa Barbara where I oversaw the kitchen remodel, menu creation, and cocktail pairing. At the same time I linked up with an all woman owned catering company where we kept busy with events ranging from 1,000 dish corporate retreats to small micro weddings. Each setting, event, and clients were unique and deserve specific attention and creativity to make their day a success. It's this attitude I try to apply to every Cooking With Drea event.
After moving to the Eastern Sierras I have fallen in love with the natural beauty of our mountains and the wonderful people who live and visit this unique space. I am always exploring new flavors and techniques, and currently I've been hard at work making contacts with local farmers and ranchers to provide as many locally-sourced ingredients as possible and incorporate them into my classes and menus. It's an ongoing journey and of course seasonal, but reducing waste and the carbon footprint of cuisine wherever we can is part of being a responsible tenant of our planet. So enough about me; drop me a line, tell me your story and let's discuss how I can make your time up here even more special!
